Peace

Peace

Over the last year, I have prayed three things for my husband, Vincent, and myself.  First that as we bear Jesus Christ, we would be salt.  Second, as we mirror Jesus that we might shine for Him.  Last, that we pour out our lives and be allowed to be living sacrifices for Him.

In the span of this last week, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma which has metastasized, and a growing nodule in one of Vincent’s lungs needs a biopsy.

A month ago, I turned seventy-five, and I have never been more exhilarated by a milestone!  It feels as though I have been climbing the San Francisco Peaks for all these years, and I have finally reached the top.  Age and the accumulation of experiences give a clarity and perspective that is like an “ah ha” moment, and the view from up here is breathtaking!

We are soon to enter the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, and I thrill to hear and sing the words in Handel’s Messiah, “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

We are walking on holy ground, and, as Vincent says, “God knows what He is doing.”  We walk arm-in-arm, the three of us, and all is well.

God’s strength is perfected in our weakness.
